Weight Control - Diet AdviceChoose low-fat, lean foods from the five major food groups. Eat sensible portions, and use fats, oils, sweets and salt sparingly. Total fat intake should be no more than 30 percent of daily calories. Total intake of refined sugar should be no more than 40g in a 2000 calorie diet, or about 8 percent of calories. Exercise moderately for at least 30 minutes on most days. If you need to lose weight, do so gradually - aim to lose about 10 percent of your body weight over 6 months.
