Electronic Body Fat Monitors
Electronic body fat monitors work by 'bioelectrical
impedance analysis'. Electrode pads are placed on the wrist and foot and
a current passed through the body, from which body fat percentage can
be estimated. These are normally used in gyms and health centers.
There are also monitors in the form of
scales - where you get a readout while standing on the platform, and handheld
simple versions. It is debatable whether it is worth investing a lot of
money in a body fat monitor to measure your body fat for weight loss purposes,
as a combination of the Body Mass
Index and Waist Hip Ratio and
Waist Circumference can tell the average dieter almost as much.
