Massage for Cellulite Treatment

Manual massage can increase the circulation and lymphatic drainage and improve the appearance of the skin over cellulite, smoothing its appearance somewhat. Massage with a mechanical device (such as those used in beauty salons) may be more effective as the force used may be stronger.

But whether massage helps to reduce cellulite, is doubtful.

One mechanical system of massage called Endermologie, carried out in salons, has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration as "temporarily" reducing the appearance of cellulite. This massage system uses a double-headed rolling and suction action.

In a British study of cellulite treatment options, Endermologie was tested and one-third of the women said that they felt there was an improvement in their cellulite while two-thirds did not.
