How to Reduce Fat Intake from Food
Reduce Your Fat Intake From Butter, Margarine,
Mayo
- This fat is rather easier to identify
and therefore to avoid. Remember, on average, almost one quarter of
the fat in our diet comes from these sources.
- Cut out butter and margarine as completely
as you can. If you want to continue with butter or margarine, spread
it thinly and use it sparingly.
- Continue to make sandwiches with the
spread on one of the slices of bread rather than on both and not using
any if the filling is moist.
- Remember mayonnaise is largely oil and
so packed with calories. Instead, try using a yogurt dressing.
- If you want to have mayonnaise occasionally,
mix it half-half with low-fat natural yogurt. This is still rich and
satisfying but has half the calories.
Reduce Your Fat Intake From Cookies, Cakes,
Pastries
The ideal is to stop eating these altogether
and just have them as a very occasional treat. The other advantage of
cutting this fat source is that it's all here as sweet fat. You cut the
fat and the sugar at the same time. Fresh fruit is the healthy weight
loss alternative to these products.
