Keep a Food/Weight Loss Diary

A food or weight loss diary can be very useful as you lose weight and change the way you eat. Write down every bite your put into your mouth, including chewing gum and breath mints. The diary will point out the little slips that can add up and undermine your weight-loss plan.

Also record the calorie and fat content of the foods you eat. This will help you learn which meals satisfy with the least cost to your plan. Increase your water consumption each week for several weeks and track that too. Make notes about your attitude and energy level at each meal. And be sure to look back and apply the knowledge you get from the information you've recorded.
