Manage Stress to Manage Weight

Weight management and stress management go hand in hand.

The better we manage stress, the easier it is to lose weight and get lean. For many people, stress triggers a desire for food. That's because eating soothes tension by releasing endorphins that encourage relaxation. However, there are other more weight-loss-friendly ways to release those endorphins.

Exercise, for example, is an excellent way to relieve stress. Get on the treadmill, take a walk around the block, or get busy with some housework. Another non-food approach to stress-management is to put on your favorite CD, pour a cold glass of water with lemon and take a hot bubble bath. If you always 'pig out' when you 'stress out', you'll never lose weight in the long-term. So build up your defenses by finding weight-friendly alternatives to tension-induced uncontrolled eating.
