What Is The Scan Diet

The Scan Diet, developed by a Scandinavian doctor, is based around 15 soy-based powdered meal-replacements (to be mixed with water). There are three variants of the Scan Diet: The Attack Plan (1200 calories - quick weight loss), the Balance Plan (1500 calories - medium weight loss) and the Control Plan (1800 calories - weight maintenance).

What You Eat on The Scan Diet

Apart from the powdered meal-replacements, the Attack Plan permits only fruit and vegetables. The Balance Plan includes 3 powdered meals plus fruit, vegetables, pasta, rice and a little meat. The Control Plan requires one or two powdered meals plus a wider range of whole foods.

How The Scan Diet Helps You Lose Weight

Meal replacement diets may be effective for some dieters, especially those suffering from severe obesity. They are generally seen as a short-term solution to weight loss. The big question about meal-replacement diets is whether the weight loss benefits of eating rather artificially are sustainable when you finish the diet and start cooking yourself.
