Single Food-Type Weight Loss Diets

What Are Single Food Diets

Single food-type weight loss diets are fad diets that promote the consumption of one food in particular such as the grapefruit diet, the egg and the tomato diet. These weight loss diets are deficient in essential vitamins and minerals and do nothing to improve eating habits. As a result, they are not suitable for long-term weight loss and may be unhealthy.

What You Eat on Single Food Diets

Usually there is an emphasis on one type of food such as cabbage, grapefruit, tomato, or eggs. Single food diets are generally very low in calorie, anything between 600-800 calories on average.

How The Single Food Diets Help You Lose Weight

Single food-type weight loss diets promote a food on the basis that it has special 'fat burning' qualities, which promotes easy weight loss. There is no scientific evidence to prove this. The only reason a dieter will lose weight on a single food diet is because the diet plan provides very few calories.

Weight Loss Diets
Almost all diet programs help us lose weight and teach us something about healthy weight loss. There's no such thing as an ideal weight loss diet. But ideally, follow a balanced diet, set realistic weight loss goals and set aside enough time for aerobic exercise.
