What Is The South Beach Diet

The South Beach Diet is one of the newest weight loss diets. Written by Dr. Arthur Agatston, the South Beach Diet is one of the less stringent higher protein weight loss diets.

What You Eat on The South Beach Diet

The diet is split into 3 phases. The first phase is quite restricted and involves eating normal-sized meals of lean meats, vegetables, nuts, cheese, and eggs - 3 times a day. Banned foods included beef rib steaks, honey-baked ham, breast of veal, all yogurt, ice cream, milk including whole and all alcohol. Phase 2 introduces some banned food into the diet. Phase 3 is an even more liberal version of the initial diet plan and lasts the rest of your life.

How The South Beach Diet Helps You Lose Weight

Expect to lose 1-2 pounds of weight per week on The South Beach Diet and perhaps more during Phase 1 of the diet. The South Beach Diet is a friendly diet plan with a range of interesting recipes and diet ideas, and encourages long-term eating from all food groups.
