Sugar Busters Weight Loss Diet

What Is Sugar Busters

First published 1995 and recently modified, Sugar Busters weight loss diet is based on the notion that sugar produces insulin which stops us losing weight, despite strict dieting and exercise. Thus, added sugar is restricted (it was banned) and mostly it recommends foods which are low on the Glycemic Index (GI). Sugar Busters diet plan is based broadly on 30 percent protein, 40 percent fat and 30 percent carbohydrates.

What You Eat According to Sugar Busters

Sugar Busters is a 14-day diet plan with portion control. You may eat red meat, poultry, fish, olive oil, dairy foods, nuts and a selection of fruit and vegetables. Potatoes are banned, as are white bread, pasta, white rice, and most sugar. However, small amounts of whole grain bread, whole-wheat pasta and oats are permitted.

How Sugar Busters Helps You Lose Weight

The success of the diet is probably due to the fact that restricting sugar helps to reduce calories, and is less likely to do with insulin. The idea that insulin causes weight gain is highly controversial. Weight gain is not possible in the absence of a calorie surplus.

Weight Loss Diets
There's no such thing as a perfect weight loss diet. Almost all weight loss diets help us lose weight and teach us something about healthy weight control. But exercise is an important part of all weight loss programs, so set aside enough time for an aerobic workout.
