The Rise of Obesity and Diabetes
Obesity (excess body fat) is rising throughout
the West, due to bad diet and lack of physical exercise. Diabetes, which
is linked to obesity, is also rising. The number of adults worldwide who
have diabetes has risen to 151 million - 5 percent of the world's population.
Experts blame the rise - about 11 percent in 5 years - on our unhealthy
lifestyles and the fact that many countries are adopting typical Western
habits.
In the UK, 8 percent of all hospital admissions
are due to diabetes and related conditions.
Weight Loss Health Advice
Weight loss and health go hand in hand.
The healthier your body, the faster you lose weight. Which is another
good reason to exercise regularly and eat healthily. And it's another
good reason to avoid fad diets or weight loss methods (like weight loss
pills and supplements) that don't help us to develop good eating habits.
