Obesity and Surgical Operations
Obesity is an added risk for surgical operations.
There is a higher degree of risk of anesthesia complications if you are
obese, and also it is literally harder for the surgeon to perform operations
when you have layers of fat which may impede the progress and finesse
of the process.
Obese people are often asked to lose weight
before an operation, and sometimes given a weight above which the operation
won't be carried out. If you need to lose weight for an operation, you
should discuss your options with a dietitian.
Weight Loss Health Advice
Weight loss and health go hand in hand.
The healthier your body, the faster you lose weight. Which is another
good reason to exercise regularly and eat healthily. And it's another
good reason to avoid fad diets or weight loss methods (like weight loss
pills and supplements) that don't help us to develop good eating habits.
