Weight and Health
An average body weight (BMI between 20
and 25) is associated with best health. Both overweight and underweight
can affect health in various ways.
Each year early 10,000 people in the UK
and 70,000 people in Europe develop cancer because they are fat, according
to a study published in the International Journal of Cancer in 2001, with
breast and colon cancers most closely linked with overweight.
The Institute of Cancer Research reported in 2001 that obesity is the
second biggest cause of cancer (after smoking) and that 10 percent of
cancers in non-smoking Americans are attributable to weight.
Weight Loss Health Advice
Weight loss and health go hand in hand.
The healthier your body, the faster you lose weight. Which is another
good reason to exercise regularly and eat healthily. And it's another
good reason to avoid fad diets or weight loss methods (like weight loss
pills and supplements) that don't help us to develop good eating habits.
