Diet Fat & Calories in Ice Cream
Ice cream is not a low fat snack option,
but did you realize just how many calories it can contain? The huge calorie
and saturated fat content of most of the treats served up in ice-cream
chains may surprise you.
Ben & Jerry's - Calories
Ben & Jerry's chocolate-dipped waffle cone, designed to hold at least
two scoops of ice cream, contains 320 calories and 10 grams or half a
day's worth of saturated fat. If you add a regular scoop of Chunky Monkey
ice cream it amounts to 820 calories and 30 grams of saturated fat.
Haagen-Daz - Calories
Haagen-Dazs's Mint Chip Dazzler contains 1,270 calories and its 38 grams
of fat is more more than the day's allowance as calculated by the U.S.
government, which says the average American should eat between 2,000 and
2,500 calories a day.
Cold Stone Creamery - Calories
Cold Stone Creamery offers fat-free frozen yogurt, or so they say. According
to CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest) tests, a small 7-ounce
serving contains 11 grams of fat and 7 grams of saturated fat.
Ice Cream & Weight Loss Diet
More than two-thirds of Americans are overweight and 30 percent are obese,
both of which raise the risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and other
big killers. Ice cream is not a suitable snack for people who are following
a weight loss diet and want to lose weight. It is a treat, and should
be enjoyed in moderation.
