Weight Loss, Calories, Exercise &
Women
Recent weight loss research shows that
women burn 3 times fewer calories nowadays compared to their counterparts
50 years ago. This is because washing, ironing, and walking to the shops
were extremely effective ways of losing weight.
Burn Calories
A weight loss survey by Prima magazine found that women 50 years ago spent
3 hours burning calories a day with housework and one hour burning calories
by walking to the shop and back. By contrast modern women burn fewer calories
by relying more on technology for housework and are more likely to eat
high fat junk food.
Weight Loss & Calorie Comparison
Women today eat on average 2,178 calories a day - and can expect their
lifestyle to burn off 556 calories. In 1952, the average woman ate 1,818
calories a day - and burned off 1,512 calories.
Overweight & Obese Women
Today 32 percent of women in Britain are overweight, and 21 percent are
obese. The weight loss study demonstrates the importance of exercise in
the battle to maintain a healthy weight.
