While most agree that weight loss is a challenge, current thinking now suggests that the best way to address the problem of overweight is to tailor the approach of weight management for each person.

Weight Loss Drugs & Psychology
Some weight loss researchers suggest that for people who are moderately overweight (defined by a Body Mass Index of over 25), psychological approaches are helpful. For those who are considered obese (defined as a Body Mass Index of over 30), a combined pharmacological and psychological approach is considered to be more helpful. In other words, those who are overweight benefit from psychology and those who are very overweight or obese can benefit from both psychology and weight loss drugs used in combination.

However, the decision whether to use psychology on its own or in combination with weight loss drugs should be decided on a case by case basis, in consultation with a physician.
