Loss Gastric Surgery
During the past 25 years, gastric surgery has been shown to be the most
effective approach for generating long-term weight loss in extremely heavy
persons. More than 90 percent of patients experience significant (between
20 percent to 25 percent) weight loss, and between 50 percent and 80 percent

Weight Loss Surgery & BMI
- Candidates
Accepted indications for surgical weight loss therapy are having
a BMI 40 plus or BMI 35-39 with one or more obesity related disorders
and having previously unsuccessful non-surgical attempts at long-term
weight management. Weight loss surgery is most effective when accompanied
by pre- and post-operative comprehensive therapy to modify eating
and exercise behavior. Such adjunctive therapy increases the likelihood
of long-term success and should be a standard component of surgical
weight management.
