Protein and Fat in Your DietThe problem for those wanting to lose weight is that protein is very often bound up with fat. For example, the protein in roast shoulder of lamb is bound up with 25 per cent fat and the protein in Cheddar cheese is bound up with 33 per cent fat. So what the dieter needs to do is find good sources of protein which aren't bound up with fat. Obviously some lean meat is all right and chicken and white fish are high in protein but low in fat. It's a myth, by the way, that only meat provides 'first class' protein - the protein of chicken and fish is just as nutritious. And by including beans, peas or lentils with rice plus whole wheat bread or pasta in your regular diet, you get complete protein with only the tiniest traces of fat.
