Very Low Fat DietsTwo well-known low calorie diets are Eat More, Weight Less, (by Dean Ornish) and The Pritikin Weight Loss Breakthrough (by Robert Pritikin). The Eat More Weigh Less diet is basically vegetarian. Meat, poultry, game-meats and fish aren't recommended and only a few very-low-fat dairy products such as fat-free yogurt, skimmed milk, fat-free cheese and egg whites are allowed. On this diet, if you adhere to the lists of 'eat freely', 'eat moderately' and 'banned' foods (which include not only all fats and oils, nuts, seeds, avocados and other fat-containing foods, but also refined carbs including sugar, white flour and white rice), you can eat al you want without counting calories or portion sizes. The Pritikin Weight Loss Breakthrough diet allows lean meat three times a week but otherwise is similar in concept. The facts here refer to Eat More, Weigh Less. Calorie IntakeTypical calorie count for a day's eating is 1,300 calories (based on a female dieter eating until she feels full). Weight LossNone specified, but Dr Ornish's patients lost an average of 28 pounds over a year. See also: Very
