Taking weight loss supplements is not usually considered appropriate if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have a history of drug or alcohol abuse
  • You have a history of an eating disorder

  • You are taking a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor or any other type of anti-depressant medication
  • You get migraine headaches and take medication for them
  • You have an unstable medical condition, such as glaucoma, diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease or a heart condition such as an irregular heartbeat.

If you are taking any weight loss drugs, medications, diet supplements or any other kind of weight control pills and you suffer from any unusual symptoms or side-effects, stop talking the pills and see your doctor.

They may offer ludicrous weight loss claims, like "Lose 20 pounds of Weight in 7 Days", or "Lose Pounds Without Dieting", or "Eat All You Like and Lose Weight". Be sceptical of these claims of easy weight loss. If weight control was that easy, or fast, a major weight loss drug company (who spends millions researching weight control medications) would surely have produced such a miraculous weight loss product and all of us would know about it.
