Exercise Helps Weight Control

An exercise routine should be part of any weight loss diet. In general, exercise can be divided into aerobic and anaerobic exercise.

Aerobic exercise (eg. walking, jogging) makes us breathe hard and raises our heart rate.

Anaerobic exercise (eg. lifting or pushing against some sort of weight) helps build muscle mass.

Both forms of exercise help us to reduce weight. Aerobic exercise burns calories and raises metabolism; anaerobic exercise builds muscle (more metabolically active than fat) and raises metabolism so we burn more calories and get leaner.
