Hunger, Portions & Weight Control
Hunger is the enemy of all weight loss
diets, so never go hungry. Eating 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a
day in your diet is a good way to fill up. Fruit and veg are full of fiber
and are a good low calorie snack option. Choose a handful of grapes, blackberries,
watermelon or pineapple (all under 100 calories) or a tomato juice (41
calories per glass) to make 5 portions.
In addition, it's a good idea to educate
yourself about portion sizes by checking the calorie content of food packages
or calorie counter books. For example, one portion size of fruit includes
a medium fresh fruit, 100g can of fruit, 50g dried fruit or 170 ml of
fruit juice.
