Obesity & Weight Management in Scotland
In any general practice of 8,000 adult
patients, evenly divided between men and women, 1,600 men can be expected
to be in need of assessment for being overweight, and a further 640 may
need weight management of their obesity. Similarly, about 1,200 women
may be overweight, and a further 680 obese. This means that 2,800 adults
in the practice's 8,000 adult population will be overweight, and 1,320
more will be obese.
Almost 52 per cent of the adult population
in Scotland could therefore need help with weight management
