Overweight Generation of Men & Women
Overweight Baby Boomers
A new weight loss survey showed that over half of the baby boomer generation
believes they are overweight. The survey findings showed that 53 percent
of U.S. adults between the ages of 39 and 57 (also known as "baby
boomers") believe they are either "very" or "somewhat"
overweight. Fewer younger adults, on the other hand, believe they are
overweight. Less than one-third said they should lose some weight.
Overweight Middle Aged Women
The weight loss survey also showed that more middle-aged women than men
said they needed to lose weight. Fifty-nine percent of women said they
were overweight as opposed to only 48 percent of the men in the "baby
boomer" category. The poll also showed a connection between weight
and overall health. Those who responded by saying their body weight was
"about right" were more likely to say their health was "excellent"
than people who said they were "overweight" - as this group
was more likely to rate their health as "fair" or "poor."
