Weight & Exercise in Canada
Physical Exercise Levels - Canada
While Canadians' overall intake of calories is now slowly decreasing,
their activity level has also gone down in recent years (and hence rate
at which they burn calories): only 20 per cent of adults remain physically
active, while only a third of school-aged children engage in active play
for two hours or more a week, compared to two-thirds 10 years ago.
Physical Exercise Survey
A new Dalhousie University study shows a dramatic drop in physical activity
by the time most Nova Scotia kids hit high school, with less than 8 per
cent meeting the target of 60 minutes of moderate physical activity a
day, considered essential to a healthy lifestyle.
